What was the last thing you did where you could have really used some encouragement and didn’t get any? Instead what you got was you giving yourself the pep talk about it, working on gleaning some sort of wisdom out of it. Except you’re not one of the 4 Wise Men from the Bible and sometimes, you feel like you’re one of the 4 Horsemen instead because your projects don’t turn out the way you want.
When that happened, what did you do? Did you turn the blame inward and blame yourself? I admit I do that often, sometimes too often. What I sometimes forget, as my friend says, is that “life throws us curveballs and we just don’t know their blessings.” I’ve been working on being less reactive and working more on self-reflection and all the wonderful things I’ve done.
I too get caught up in activity and when I look back to where I was last year at this time and even all the way back to 2000, I’m practically a whole new person. If you’ve heard the theory that our cells regenerate every 7 years, I’ve been made over 3 times since 2000. Sometimes the biggest changes don’t happen overnight, they happen over time and sometimes it takes as long as 7 years or even a lifetime. The hope is that we’re always changing, growing, and evolving.
What changes have happened in your life over the last year? Feel free to share them with me and if this helped you, please feel free to share it with someone.
And if you really want to know, I wouldn’t have ever thought I would have built 3 websites in the last year or even started a regular weekly blog complete with audio and written a children’s storybook with an audio component and theme song.
With love,
Ayla
ps Around this time last year, I didn't know the things I was doing could turn into my company. I just thought they were side hustles and here I am, a founder. Writing to you on a Saturday.
