There are times in life when we start to think that our harvest is about to come in and so we hold on, waiting. We may even say we’ll be grateful when it happens. The truth is it’s very easy to be grateful when the harvest comes in but the real question is, were you grateful along the way? Were you grateful for the land to plant the seeds and grateful for the rainy day? The sunny days? Your physical health, mental health and emotional well being along the way? What about the fertilizer aka the poop that helped your garden to grow? Those are sometimes the hardest days when it feels like the poop hit the fan but if we had a fan outside to spread the poop out, we might be more grateful when that happened.
What am I saying? Sometimes it’s a matter of perspective as to whether or not it was a crappy day. Sometimes time has to pass by and sometimes, it’s just generally a no good very bad day. What do you do then? Do you sulk? Do you spread your misfortune around like a tornado/hurricane? Or do you do a dance and make the rain go away?
Here’s the thing, no matter what you do, do it. Don’t regret it. Be happy, be sad, feel the feelings, work through them, definitely don’t stamp them down. That makes weeds and we’re working on making ourselves strong while remembering to be grateful along the way. Why? So when the harvest comes in, there’s sunshine, rainbows, and unicorn farts. (I told you unicorns were awesome).
I hope this helps you to remember to be grateful for your journey, it’s the giver of joy. What was the last thing you were grateful for? I’m grateful for the idea to write these Saturday letters to you. Thank you for reading.
with love,
Ayla
